Evidence that helps customers choose

Choose a case study that answers the ChatGPT ad visitor's question

Select a relevant case study for a ChatGPT ad destination. Match the visitor's uncertainty to documented work and show the boundaries of the comparison.

The working guide

What you can work through.

Evidence that helps customers choose
  • Choose a case for the question it answers, not the customer's fame.
  • Explain shared constraints and meaningful differences.
  • Use documented outcomes without turning them into promises for new customers.

The most recognisable customer in your portfolio is not always the most useful case on a ChatGPT ad destination. A visitor considering equipment for a confined workspace may learn little from a large installation with generous access and a completely different operating environment.

Choose the case by the uncertainty it can help resolve. The destination needs evidence about the advertised service in a relevant setting, not a miniature company history. Begin by writing one question the case should answer, then judge the available material against it.

Create a case-selection note

Use four fields in an internal note: visitor question, comparable condition, documented action and important difference. These fields force the selection to rest on the work rather than its prestige.

For a hypothetical ad about installing compact equipment, the visitor question could concern fitting the unit through a narrow entrance. A comparable condition would be restricted access. A documented action could be a verified installation sequence. An important difference might be the unit’s dimensions or the site’s structural constraints.

The note is an editorial tool, not a claim about a real customer. Do not publish a fictional installation as a case merely because the example is convenient. If no documented project answers the question, choose a different evidence format or say what must be assessed before suitability can be established.

Compare relevance before presentation quality

Review candidate cases using the same factors. Look at service type, project scale, operating conditions, customer contribution and the work the business actually performed. A visually polished story can be a poor match if those factors differ from the current offer.

In the compact-equipment example, a smaller project with the same access constraint may be more informative than a famous customer’s expansive facility. However, a similar-looking room alone does not establish relevance. The work may have used another model or depended on structural changes absent from the advertised package.

Keep the case’s useful similarity and limiting difference together. This helps visitors judge whether to read further. It also prevents a case headline from suggesting the business has solved the exact situation of every person arriving from the ad.

Compare the alternatives

Which case helps with a restricted space?

  1. Large familiar customer

A spacious site and different installation do not answer the fit question.

    Reconsider
  2. Similar constraint

Documented access and the same installation type may be relevant.

    Checkpoint
  3. No comparable documentation

Show a labelled work sample and explain what needs assessment.

Show the work that connects problem and outcome

A case should explain what was done between the starting condition and the result. Name the business’s contribution, the customer’s contribution and any relevant third-party work. A result attributed to the provider may partly depend on changes made by the customer.

Avoid filling this section with vague praise. If the relevant question is installation access, describe the documented assessment, preparation and sequencing. The account does not need every project detail, only enough to understand why the example addresses the visitor’s concern.

Where the case includes a measured result, verify its definition, period and supporting record. ICC’s substantiation principle calls for factual claims to have appropriate support. A persuasive narrative cannot substitute for that record.

Keep one outcome from becoming a general promise

A case can truthfully report what happened in a particular project without establishing what will happen in all future projects. Preserve its circumstances and avoid converting a specific outcome into the headline promise for the advertised service.

For example, a documented installation duration may reflect pre-existing preparation, a particular model and a team available on that occasion. If these conditions are omitted, a reader may interpret the number as the standard delivery time. Either explain the conditions or choose a more suitable fact for the summary.

The evidence-placement guide addresses how supporting information appears beside a claim. The selection decision comes first: do not choose an impressive result and then try to repair its irrelevance through a long qualification.

Use the right depth on the destination

The landing page may need a short case extract with a link to the fuller account. Include the problem, the relevant action and the boundary of comparison in the extract. Do not reduce it to a logo and an unexplained percentage.

If several uncertainties genuinely need different examples, give each a clear role. One case might explain handling restricted access while another shows handover documentation. Avoid a long carousel in which every item claims general satisfaction without helping the customer make a specific decision.

A portfolio selection serves a different purpose: showing representative work across a defined offer. A case study should provide enough narrative and evidence to explain one relevant situation. Choose the format that matches the task rather than calling every project photograph a case.

Verify permission, currency and translation

Before use, check the source material, approved scope of publication and whether the service described still matches the advertised offer. A case about a discontinued process may need an explicit date and explanation or may no longer belong on the destination.

Keep the translated account faithful to the documented meaning. A cautious Swedish description should not become a definite English performance promise. If a customer quotation is included, follow the testimonial-context guide and retain its attribution and relevant conditions.

Read the final page as someone deciding whether their own situation is similar. They should be able to identify what the example demonstrates and what still needs individual assessment. A case earns its place by reducing a specific uncertainty honestly, even when that makes it less dramatic than the business’s best-known success story.

Sources and scope

Select a documented customer case for a ChatGPT ad destination around the specific uncertainty raised by the offer and explain which aspects of the previous work are comparable.
